Love to get him on the record one day. Anyone want to ask? I think they hate me for some reason?

QUOTE(LxMartini @ Oct 19 2009, 02:27 AM) If you ask me, they all seem a bit tired of it all these days, and not very eager to spill any news at all unless they have to. The news about Rockingham wasn't supposed to be out, but someone in the community spotted it and so the result: http://www.lfsforum.net/showthread.php?t=61623 One of the devs are about to lose his calm. Earlier this year, Eric had sort of a fallout in his third ever(!) post on the LFS forum. Since then, not one sign of life from him. http://www.lfsforum.net/showthread.php?p=1079954#post1079954 Don't think they hate you Alex, but they seem to be a bit frustrated and tired of it all these days. And... The decision to go to S3 at this stage can be taken as a sign that they are in need of money to continue the project, which would indicate that they might rush things and pay for it later. -------------------- |

It seems to me than in retrospect they should have done LFS 1.0, 2.0. 3.0 and not had the base engine updates spill over into the next release. A whole new product.
It seems as though its status has dropped from a real commercial product to a pet project that gets worked on when it gets worked on, without any clear direction or endgame. Either or is fine, but what it needs to clearly be one or the other. Either an excellent pet project worth following, or a nearly spent (but very successful in its day) product. If I were Scawen, I sure has hell would be bored with the whole thing. It would be something to tinker with and improve when I had time, but dealing with the disgusting horde on the official forums would put me the hell off it. It has a sort of disturbing cult with people who take it way too seriously. It seems like a bunch of people pissed off about the progress but that have nowhere else to go and nothing else to do with their time. If he likes writing sims, he ought to start over from scratch and work on an entirely new concept from the ground up. That would probably get people excited and attract new customers from the simulation scene rather than just constantly working to appease the current LFS crowd. -------------------- (203): I asked a girl to buy her a drink, she had I have a boyfriend, so I said, well i have a goldfish, she said what? I replied, oh I'm sorry I thought we were talking about TOCA that doesn't matter.

If they still want to work on sims, I think setting a definite target for S3 and getting it done and out of the way would be a good move.
They have the nice position of owning the code and being able to take what they want from it for future products. I personally would like to see a line drawn under LFS and something new started. Take the net code and all of the other bits that work well, and rework the things that need doing. Maybe that's an odd attitude, but LFS's biggest problems lie not just with the product, but the whole image and attitudes that have grown around it. A fresh start would not just see a refreshed and new product, but potentially a new environment in which it could be appreciated and enjoyed. -------------------- Don't just call me pessimist,
