I just took the 312 for a ride (Sarti's style) and had to stop after 23 kilometers because tomorrow will be a tough day... but it's such a labour of love that it makes you wanna cry.
Thanks to anyone involved. I just can't wait to race there.

piccolo... 72 kms

For the install process... you have to update to the latest patch. Read the readme...

Hm. I've been looking forward to this one. I suspect that it will be one of those things that I really want to like, and do really like to a certain extent, but it will piss me off to no end and I'll give up. Particularly in something like GPL which is pretty damn hard to begin with (I'll be sticking with the '65's most likely).

My biggest weakness when it comes to simming is learning new tracks. I guess I don't really know how long it takes other people to learn new tracks, but it will probably take me twenty to thirty laps before I can even hit the apexes consistently, and it's not about being able to hit them at speed, or car control, but just knowing where they are (a normal track, I'd probably never get something like the Targa Florio). There's something about sims that makes that very difficult for me.

It's the most natural thing in the world in a real car--that's just the way you naturally go. Probably g-forces and depth perception and being able to move my head around or something. "Look to apex" settings help, but they screw up my sense of the attitude of the car. Widescreen helped a lot, but it's not the same. It's about being able to look through the turn to where I want to go--lining up where I want to end up with the apex, like aiming a rifle.

Which reminds me. Do you figure that Shift is using the 'exaggerate yaw' setting you get in some sims? (wrong thread of course, but that might be something to look into).

No-one ever memorised the madonie - no-one has even agreed on how many corners there were. It's one of those places...

I'm the same: it takes me ages to learn tracks. Have you even tried a Track IR?

Just download the GPL 2004 demo, put the updates on it, and load up the track.

Problem solved. You don't need your disk. It's only really necessary for the default tracks and since you bought it once, you can do this with a clear conscience--not that anyone that matters actually sees a dime when you buy it anyways.

Maybe one day I'll try a TrackIR. I doubt I'd like it for much the same reason that I don't like look-to-apex.

Since the screen in GPL is pretty much 16:9 anyways, anyone know if there is a way to blow that up to fill your screen? If not, how's it work with widescreen? Do I have to deal with bars on the sides and on the top and bottom?

Anyone try the 60fps mod yet?

The letterbox presentation of Grand Prix Legends is quite possibly the one single element that puts the player realistically in 1967, a subtle touch, but a powerful influence on perception.
